Welcome to Optivus Proton Therapy, Inc.
Optivus Proton Therapy, Inc. (Optivus)
was founded in 1993 to pursue the vision of making proton beam therapy available to cancer patients throughout the world.
In 1987 an innovative team of engineers who would later form Optivus, joined with physicians and scientists from the Loma Linda University
Medical Center (LLUMC) a major California teaching hospital, to pioneer the world's first hospital-based proton beam treatment center. In October of 1990,
only thirty-seven months after ground breaking, the first patient was treated.
Today, Optivus' system, the Conforma 3000, has been used to treat more than 13,000 patients. FDA cleared for one to seven rooms, Optivus' modular and
scalable Conforma 3000® leads the industry in patient throughput, highest operational reliability and
demonstrates a perfect safety record after nearly a half million individual patient treatments.
Proton Beam Therapy, widely recognized as the most precise form of radiation therapy, provides tremendous advantages over conventional
radiation treatment and surgery for certain types of cancers and other diseases. Proton Therapy provides superior dose distribution
to cancerous cells while sparing the surrounding healthy tissue, thereby eliminating painful and
otherwise life-impairing side effects associated with surgery and other forms of radiation therapy.
