Optivus formed in 1993 with the primary goal of expanding proton beam therapy treatment centers worldwide. To achieve this, Optivus has brought together a highly driven and talented team of professionals.



Jon Slater, President and CEO

Jon W. Slater is the President and CEO of Optivus Proton Therapy, Inc. In 1993, Jon founded Optivus to develop Proton Beam Treatment Centers throughout the world. He has more than 20 years of experience in proton beam therapy. He developed and has led the Executive Team at Optivus to create the finest proton beam therapy system in the world.

Daryl Anderson, Chief Financial Officer

Daryl Anderson joined Optivus as CFO in May 1998. He reports directly to the CEO and is a member of Optivus' Executive Team. Daryl works with the Executive Team to establish strategic and tactical goals, resulting in an annual business plan and budget.
He is responsible for financial operations, project management and systems administration and is directly involved with capital formation and project finance efforts and works with clients, banks, law firms, accounting firms and investors throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. Additionally, he has lobbied the U.S. Senate and Congress for funding and regulatory changes.

David Lesyna, Vice President of Engineering

David A. Lesyna is Vice President of Engineering with over 20 years of experience and expertise in the development and design of proton beam therapy. David currently leads all product and engineering development at Optivus and LLUMC including system definition and system design. He was the second engineer hired by LLUMC in 1987 to design and construct the beam delivery and control system for the proton facility. This work included the design and development of the world's first hospital based proton therapy treatment system. He also assisted Fermi National Accelerator scientists for two years during the design, assembly and initial commissioning of the synchrotron accelerator. He was responsible for the electrical engineering system design and architecture of the fixed stationary beam room, as well as, three 90-ton gantry based treatment rooms.

Ken Rice, Director of Computer Science

Kenneth L. Rice is the Director of Computer Science and joined Optivus in February 1994.
Kenneth has been a member of the Optivus executive team for 8 years. He provides "line management" leadership to the Optivus software development team, which includes ensuring that software development is consistent with all required quality standards. He led a multi-disciplined team to install, integrate and test a proton accelerator control system into an operational high-volume treatment facility.

Lisa Marino Pizzi, Director of Marketing Communication

Lisa Marino Pizzi is the Director of Marketing Communications for Optivus and reports to Optivus’ CEO. Lisa is a member of Optivus Executive Team and is responsible for the company’s Marketing, Public Relations, and Advertising programs. She joined Optivus in fall of 1999. With nearly a decade of specialized marketing management experience in proton therapy, she has helped Optivus to become recognized as the pioneers and leaders in clinic-based proton beam therapy technology and advances.
